Improved Wound Care Processes: A Multidisciplinary Research Collaboration

Jens Lundström and Ingrid Larsson

Content

This research explores the critical role of an integrated wound care process for patients with hard-to-heal wounds. The seamless coordination between Region Halland and the various municipalities in Halland is essential for effective wound care, requiring both economic, technical and professional resources. With the increasing research, development and adoption of digital technologies and trustworthy artificial intelligence, evidence-based wound care is foreseen to evolve significantly in treatment management and documentation.

This project aims to contribute to person-centered wound care processes prioritizing patient safety and utilization of an evidence-based approach for healthcare professionals. Our project addresses the knowledge gaps in wound care processes by generating new insights through interview studies and advanced data analysis, including machine learning-based methods and tools. This research mainly focuses on the lessons learned thus far, derived from interviews and cohort data analysis. We also outline how collaboration between project stakeholders is facilitated, the next steps in the project, and how these are linked to the scientific objectives, resource needs, and required competencies.
